We are thrilled to present a collection of new works from Tom Marine and Christine Relton. The exhibition features work inspired by recent travels to Italy and India. Large canvas works sit alongside works on paper and a small collection of their ever popular small still lifes on paper.
Tom and Christine flew into Venice last May and spent a month travelling home by train, sketching as they went. Tuscany, the part of the Liguria Coast called the Cinque Terre, and epic cliff walks between the five villages, Portofino and back through Nice and Paris via Genoa.
Then in November they travelled to India for a month. They have visited India many times over the years and amased an incredible collection of woodblocks, fabrics and objects that are often used to create the incredible texture and mark making that form the rich backgrounds in their work. Staying in Jaipur, Udaipur and Rajasthan these works are often views from balconies, observed with a glass of wine in hand and quickly sketched before coming back to their home studio and working togther to create these transportative works that almost have you sat within the sights, sounds and smells of India.
